First Vriska showed up with this and saying hey, maybe doing bad things is wrong.
Except she thinks herself to be better than everyone else to the point that bad things are okay if she does them, because someone else is doing worse things, and she knows everything is wrong. So she can keep making people feel like shit, because she is the one doing it, and she has the holy insight of morality. Her version of morality, which is centered around her becoming a dictator and a martyr for the sake of the universe and spiting everyone that called her mean, basically. Even though there are thousands of others that could helping be with their own knowledge and experience.
Vriska is trying to cut down a forest by herself with 50,000 chainsaws and having everyone follow her in a straight line to hold the chainsaws for her instead of letting them actually help and improve the strategy, because her ego and victim complex are the size of multiple galaxies combined.
I found it interesting the way you found Vriska's speech forced or rehearsed. Because I felt the same way, but for different reasons. You attributed it to script being bad. I attributed it to Vriska forcing a dramatic speech in to justify these things to herself and everyone else. Like, she'd prepped / practiced this speech in advance to justify her BS as everyone is bailing.
Basically this, too. It came immediately after she treated everyone like shit, realizes that she treated everyone like shit, and then suddenly pulls out “oh but anything I do is better than TOTAL DESTRUCTION so I can do and say anything I want stop picking on me!!!”
When in reality everything would probably be a whole hell of a lot easier if she explained the entire situation and had the entire army working together with their own functioning minds instead of declaring herself the holy savior of the universe and the only being capable of thoughts critical and clever enough to save everyone. Which is a typical narcissistic manipulative mindset. Instead of having things go a million times quicker by letting anyone else give input, she declared herself the holy grail of beings, the pinnacle of perfection, and refuses to accept any criticism, alternative ideas, or opinions that could possibly encourage anyone else to believe her godly ideas and goals are even the slightest bit wrong.
She definitely practiced that speech, and tells herself over and over again that at least she is not bad as everyone else, so she can keep being awful and refuse to acknowledge that maybe, just maybe, she has (major) flaws. Congratulations. You are not as shitty of a person as you could be. Now try improving from there.
Why bother with internal conflict and encouraging critical thinking when you can just get the character drunk for no reason over and over and spell out everything for the reader on a giant billboard in big flashing lights? So much easier.
Hey, you know the thing you have always wanted and that is probably your only chance at ever living again? I have it, but I mean, not that I want to be enemies, I still want to be friends with you, even if you are extremely dangerous and evil, but what I am saying is I want to stay friends, even though I really think you should stay dead forever, and I would never forgive myself for allowing someone like you to walk among the living.
A lot of new faces apparently popped in while I was eating. Everything was delicious, by the way.
My name is Rune, and this is a Homestuck liveblog, which is the tumblr equivalent of a laser pointer and a bag of tomatoes in a movie theater, except occasionally I stand in front of the entire audience and get real.
This blog is designed to be read in chronological order, meaning from beginning to end. Just like reading Homestuck, except reading about someone else reading Homestuck. More information here. Basically, it operates on a tag system. When one “wtfih” tag runs out, add +1 to the end of it. Right now there are 11 parts.
If you enjoy/enjoyed Homestuck and want to read about some other loudmouth reading it through for the first time, this is the place. If you hate Homestuck with all of your might and want to see someone throw tomatoes at it, also the place. If you love Homestuck and want to see someone else talk about it in-depth, this also also is a great place.
If you love Homestuck to the point of getting extremely defensive and having a violent reaction to, say, me calling your favorite character a steamy pile of shit, this is probably not the place for you. This has happened. A lot.
Mistakes and lapses in judgement are significantly more prevalent when related to events of extreme emotion, including joy. People change as they get older, and realize more things, and maybe more past events as mistakes. Everybody makes those mistakes. In hindsight, maybe wearing a shirt with a giant picture of Snoop Dog and a marijuana leaf with “BLAZE IT” written on the back was a bad choice for an interview. Online it might be the world’s funniest meme, but online and offline cultures are very, very different. Culture even varies between websites. Context is one of the most important parts of a joke. Wear and do whatever you want in the appropriate setting or while alone, but just consider that whether you like it or not, other people judge you based on their life experience, their ideas, and their concept of context.
the puzzles with more pieces are the most fun, i have a heart one and the jake symbol one and i'd have to say due to the number of pieces and unconventional cut the replay value is pretty high.
I definitely figured as much, the designs just a few thin pieces appear to function better aesthetically than, well, functionally. There are no plans in my future to buy any of these, but I can always appreciate a great puzzle.
Somewhere in the depths of my writing notebooks is a lengthy Eridan essay from way back. The conclusion is muddy, so it never got posted. If enough people are interested, an attempt will be made to locate and transcribe the draft.
Then the player has to take a giant sti-weapon, and uh, rub it with magic marking dust, then proceed to mimic jousting against the other denizens of the world-alright everything is very complicated, okay?
By the way, I do remember the story of at least one of the fantroll purchases. Very touching. I completely forgot the other one because it was far less interesting. The interesting one was very interesting. I wish that individual well.
