First Vriska showed up with this and saying hey, maybe doing bad things is wrong.
Except she thinks herself to be better than everyone else to the point that bad things are okay if she does them, because someone else is doing worse things, and she knows everything is wrong. So she can keep making people feel like shit, because she is the one doing it, and she has the holy insight of morality. Her version of morality, which is centered around her becoming a dictator and a martyr for the sake of the universe and spiting everyone that called her mean, basically. Even though there are thousands of others that could helping be with their own knowledge and experience.
Vriska is trying to cut down a forest by herself with 50,000 chainsaws and having everyone follow her in a straight line to hold the chainsaws for her instead of letting them actually help and improve the strategy, because her ego and victim complex are the size of multiple galaxies combined.
Why bother with internal conflict and encouraging critical thinking when you can just get the character drunk for no reason over and over and spell out everything for the reader on a giant billboard in big flashing lights? So much easier.
Alcoholism in teens as a punchline was just barely tolerable the first 500 times, but it starts to get old really, really fast. I get it. Reliance on alcohol is entertaining. Teens not having self control is amusing. Teens sometimes drink a lot more than they should when encountering stressful situations. Why show a teenager realistically and painfully responding to a stressful situation when you can lighten the mood and show them hilariously drunk off their ass instead?
The flow is really broken here, like a really unnecessarily dramatic pep speech in a movie that is taking itself way too seriously. Which it is.
You know how when in movies some character says something really perfect and out of place and way too thought out to the point of sounding obnoxiously forced like the entire situation was made just to justify using that one quote?
Feeling that right now.
Only in the memories of one of the most significant beings in the universe can we possibly discover the key to alter the course of our fate from absolute destruction…
It looks like a skull, which is part of a skeleton, which has a lot of…bones.
On that fateful evening, all eyes turned towards the sky for a breathtaking view of a young troll realizing his true potential, performing a legendary double “fuck you” for the enraged spider queen fuming beneath him. Her spiteful words meant nothing now, for the child, perhaps now an adult, was long on his way towards a better, brighter future, in a joyful place where others believed in him-just as he now believed in himself.
Maybe the moral here is that even the scariest of spider troll teens have no power over you if you believe in yourself. Without the courage to say no, you helplessly follow…on a fleet of ships with other people who are actually mind controlled, because, something something universe, uh, fate.
Basically, people who try to make you feel bad about yourself are usually trying to manipulate you. Usually into buying something. Or doing something for their benefit. Or both.
There he goes…! Goodbye! Goodbye! Take care…!!
